Hello,
I find the same situation:
I have a Sony Mini-DV tape, and I want to record directly to DVD. A big advantage is that it can also record videos from my old DVDs.
Note: It is always advisable to read the instructions carefully and complete instruction manual before starting an electronic device.

I have a PC with Windows Media Center and is compatible with Windows Movie Maker (with AutoProducer). To run the program, in conjunction with my Sony camcorder with a USB cable, then create my image with the Windows Movie Maker.
Most now come with Windows XP, Windows Movie Maker. The advantage of this option is that you are really great films FOOTAGES (ie materials, with excellent effect, can, etc.) make

Liteon recorder can do what he wants, and probably others. Look for FireWire, iLink or IEEE1394 in the specifications all the same thing (but why have a name!). Instead of using a DVD burner, you have been thinking about transferring video to your PC and a DVD that should prepapring - cheaper and you end up with a much better product.
