Bestselling Point And Shoot Do You Have To Hire An Editor Before You Get An Agent To Read Your Book?

Do you have to hire an editor before you get an agent to read your book? - bestselling point and shoot

I'm confused. I read that the agent acts as a literary editor these days, if your book is so wrong with the grammar and spelling, and format that will not play. But while on Yahoo Answers, I read about someone with a hiring editor to edit the book before the number to try to reach to find an agent. I'm confused, I know that the attitude of an editor cost money, because you hire someone ... not selling authors pay publishers, before the agent receives in his last book? I'm writing to pay and everything. Bah, I'm so confused.
